Generic Amaryl and its Uses
Generic Amaryl belongs to a group of medications known as oral hypoglycemics. Generic Amaryl is used to control blood glucose for people with Type 2 diabetes. Generic Amaryl is used when diet, exercise, and weight reduction have not been found to control blood glucose well enough on their own. Generic Amaryl increases the amount of insulin released by the pancreas and helps the body use insulin more efficiently.
Generic Amaryl may be used in combination with metformin or insulin when diet and exercise and the use of these medications on their own do not provide adequate control of blood sugar.
Working Mechanism of Amaryl
Generic Amaryl works primarily to correct insulin deficiency. When your body doesn't have enough insulin, it can't carry glucose (sugar) out of the bloodstream and into the cells. Generic Amaryl helps your body produce extra insulin when it is needed (after meals), so it can carry glucose into your cells to be converted into energy. Generic Amaryl may also make tissues in your muscles and other organs more sensitive to insulin.
